Latest settings/thoughts/maps for racelogic traction control? +2002 install how to
 

Hi,
I've just installed racelogic traction control on my 2002 Rx7.
Was wondering if there has been any recent knowledge of the best was to configure it. The last thread I can find with detailed info is rice racing 2007.

More specifically, I am running the standard cut sequences as shipped. Is there a better setup? Mike from Racelogic says just to leave it as is.

Also, what are people putting for minimum thresholds:
Speed (default 14kph)?
Revolutions (default 2000)
- What are the best launch control revs you have found? dry/wet?


On a side note, installing RLTC into a 2002 RX-7 is somewhat different - for a start there is NO abs computer in the rear, its part of the ABS unit now. Also, the pinouts are different on the ECU, If anyone needs help on 99-02 RX7, let me know.

to my knowledge there isnt many people running traction control on the USDM FD's due to the cost and the "feeling" it takes away from the intended use of the FD RX-7. i personally would never use any but im not sure many people on this forum have 99-2002 FD's but someone might chime in.

There are a few threads on rx7club about it, but not for a while. I primarily use it for the wet -Dont know about you, but my FD is nearly undrivable in the wet! The other use is launching and launch control. I hated the wheel hop it always got, now it is gone! (at about 13% slip on the dial - any more slip set and the hop is back a bit).

TC hardly comes on in the dry (set @ 20%), unless you do something really stupid (Like flooring it around a corner in 1st, like I did this afternoon!)

Im quite surprised more guys are not installing traction control. With power to weight ratios higher than that of many high end porches lambos, ferraris, and so on, there are many obvious advantages. Also if you are gonna do figure 8's and smoke off your $500 tires at an ikea parking lot you could always turn it off, so im confused. Alot of guys on this forum have upwards of 400 whp, which is more than enough to get the FD squirlly, someone chime in, these kits arent expensive so whats the main drawback.

I bought the RiceRacing tuned RaceLogic TCM in the group buy (2 rotor version, with the digital controller)

Still sitting on my coffee table, but I always wondered why people barely discussed their experience with their units.

@1rotor2nv, yes, you are correct. Its the main reason I didnt increase my power much from standard (about 300-320hp). Even in that trim, its all over the place in 1st and 2nd. Then 3rd is getting to ridiculous car impounding (here anyway) speeds. (160kph).
On the street, 1st,2nd and 3rd are where it counts. 4th if you wanna go nuts. And those gears are the perfect place for rltc. What the point of 500bhp if you cant put it on the road?
So anyway, my mini review of rltc, is that its great so far, but I have only done a dozen runs testing it.
And before ppl say, 'you dont need traction control' - yes , on the track maybe, but its great on the street, where you cant necessarily have the back end step out, without hitting something.

Maybe you should sort out the wheel hop problem with new engine mounts/diff cradle bushes and/or rear toe link/trailing arm bushes?

yes, still very happy with it (although I dont drive it much in winter - dont like it to get dirty!).
The problem with a diff subframe is weight. the rltc solved both wheel hop and cornering traction in one step, for only a couple of kg added.

Anyone know how the MoTeC traction control abilities compare to the Racelogic?

Sorry for bringing this one back, but since my ECU manufacturer has failed to deliver on their traction control promise (four year gone by now !!) I am looking at alternatives , the Racelogic unit seems to be the most popular and best unit , anyone know what they go for ? wher can I find a dealer ?

I ordered my directly from racelogic in the uk. might be cheaper that way,
