Knock Sensor Issue
OK....
I thought I'd start a new thread for this. I'm getting error code 5 for the knock sensor. I have replaced the knock sensor with a new one, and I even went as far as to run a completely new wire to the ECU pin for the knock sensor and I'm still throwing a knock sensor code. I have OHM tested the connection all the way from the sensor to the PIN and it does have a connection, so at this point I'm not sure what more I can do to make this stupid thing turn off. It is a brand new sensor, and a brand new wire. Connection is good, and I reset the ECU and it instantly turned back on. What could possibly be wrong to make it act this way with a new wire / sensor? |
I get a knock sensor code also, I bought a new knock sensor, and when I went to replace the old one, the wire is not attached to anything. . . old one could be fine. Problem is. . . I have no idea where to attach this empty lead. Could you take a picture of where it goes???

From the factory I believe the wire goes behind the alternator into the rest of the harness.... if you can't locate the wire, you can always run a new one right to the ECU pin connector wire. I believe the knock sensor is white, download the FSM and look @ the wiring diagram. You can easily figure out which one it is. I'm just having issues at this point with my connected sensor not working :( Not sure what else to try, but I just got some new advice via a PM so I'll try it out and let everyone know. |
So you got rid of all the other codes?
|
Yep all codes are gone, and the knock sensor problem is now solved as well. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT!!!!!!!!!
I just have to get the car to idle better, as it is very spiradic right now, but other than that, runs great. |
Very good.
For others that search and find your threads in the future, you might want to post up what you did to fix the problems. |
