Ok so Ive got a really quick question which I think I might know the answer but I just want to see what everyone else thinks. I just did the non-sequential setup on my car and we still have to do a real tune on the ecu but for now there is a base tune that was suppose to be streetable until a full tune(which will be tuesday). This is going to be my second time changing the spark plugs but so far it seems like they keep fouling out. I know that Im running a little more rich than usual and I thought that that might be the problem. Is there any other reasons I may be fouling out the plugs? :Kill1:

This is the setup that I have:

*Pettit Racing 3mm ported motor
*99' J'spec Non-sequential Twin Turbos
*Ported intake manifold
*Ported throttle body
*Greddy FMIC
*Pettit Racing 3" Down pipe
*High flow 3" cat
*Hks carbon-ti exhaust
*10mm magnacore wires
*NGK spark plugs (9's all the way around no 7's)
*Apexi FC ecu
*Aem air fuel wideband
*Autometer boost gauge
*greddy intake

Hopefully that helps with an answer to my problem. Thanks for any help.

i'm sure it is a number of things causing it, do you premix? premixing and a rich mixture fouls plugs rather quickly, the heat range still may be too cold for the setup you are running so switching back to 7s would probably help until you have it tuned. how often do you change them?

something is seriously off with your setups then. might be the weaker FD coils, cheap 2 stroke oil, excessive blowby, coolant in the combustion chamber, faulty plug wires excessively rich mixture or excessively rich premix could all be factors to foul plugs.

So this is the day im getting it tuned(wish me luck). But I pulled my spark plugs to put the new ones in and they all were wet(I havent driven the car in two days) and smelled like fuel. Would that be another indication of running too rich or could that be something else?

How do you know the plugs are fouling out? Is the car running rough, not starting, lack of power, what?

All 9's should not be a problem on the plugs - I've been running like that for some time with no problems, with fewer mods.

Might also want to go through the sensor check screen on the Commander and make sure all your sensors are within spec. A bad water temp or air temp sensor could make the car run mighty rich, which could in turn foul the plugs out.

BTW, we still need to get up sometime :).

The car would not start after a while or it would bog out after a while and die. If I cleaned the plugs or put new ones in it would start right up.

We changed out the plugs with newer stock ones and it seemed to fix a lot of the idle problems. Hopefully on wednesday we can get back to tuning and hopefully it will go better.

We r using the power fc with a datalogit. I dont have a commander.

oh yea....we did change out all four injectors yesterday. Thant was the last thing we did before we called it a day. Hopefully that helped with something. This car is starting to drive me nuts. Anyway we r going to try again today...hopefully something goes right for us.

So today the air/fuel at isdle was perfect. We took it for a ride and it was pretty stable. We went one more time and hit boost as well and it didnt break up or try to die on me.....so it seemed like the injectors were a big part of the problem. I got off of work late today so all we did was test the car and write a new program for the ecu. We r just trying to fine tune it. We will write the program to the ecu on friday...so ill keep u posted.

Took her to work today and just got off of my lunch break with it and once again everything is in normal parameters. It was pretty hard to start this morning but after that everything seems to be running fine. After I get home from work Ill check for leaks and make sure that everything is still where they are suppose to be....and then the big test tomorrow with the new tune. Keep ur fingers crossed.

It looks like the culprit were leaky injectors or bad injectors. Im running a safe tune right now and everything seems to be holding. The only thing I dont like is the fact that it doesnt like to start when the motor is cool, like early starts in the morning. He said I needed a larger fuel pump to pump more fuel at start. Anyway thanks for all the help and hopefully I wont have to go back in the motor for now.

You probably just need to adjust the cranking times using the Datalogit.

You probably need to adjust the coolant fuel map. The map the PFC ships with is too lean for most cars when it's warming up - you get stalling and rough running. There's also a map where you can adjust cranking fuel by coolant temp. A combination of those should solve the problem.
