Keyless entry and Factory alarm system

I installed a keyless entry and the factory alarm has activated when I open the door. The funny things is it doesn't do it all the time. I may have two issues here but I assume the alarm is not being turn off at the key sensor. I guess there must be a way to trigger the key sensors using the actuator movement and a micro switch etc. Does anyone have ideas on the subject??

I had the exact same problem, almost. Haha that sounds kinda stupid....

Had an alarm/immobiliser installed along with a turbo timer by a car alarm place. The alarm/immobiliser included remote entry. Anyway when I pressed the button to disarm the aftermarket alarm and unlock the doors, sometimes the factory alarm would trigger.

I narrowed it down to being something to do with the turbo timer. I can't remember now, but I think it only happened when I used the turbo timer. If the turbo timer was off then it didn't happen. You got a turbo timer??

Took it back to the place who installed it, explained the problem, and they went in and disconnected the factory alarm system so it is no longer used at all. I guess you won't want to do that unless you've got an aftermarket alarm as well as the remote entry?

Just yesterday I saw that there are adapter kits for cars with factory alarms. I saw a Wal-Mart brand (Bulldog Security) keyless entry kit that had the optional kit beside it. It makes it work with "new cars with factory anti-theft systems". I'm sure other companies offer these two, check the manfacturers website (although the install shop should knwo this).

Sounds like you've got a good idea of what's going on. You need something to ground-pulse the key-cylinder wire during a disarm. Usually the alarm's lock trigger wire will do the trick. The factory alarm gets pissed if the lock is switched (or the door is opened) without getting a signal from the key-cylinder.

I have been using the key since I got the car and have never herd the alarm go off for any reason. I would assume at the alarm module there is a central circuit which reports in on the status of the lock cylinder switch's. If so taping in to that would likely do the trick. Most anything on this car is a battle or $$$$$

if you want yoru alarm to go off, lock your doors from the inside, shut them, then open the hatch with the key. HONK! HONK! HONK! is your result (or at least mine).

My question about factory oddities: Has anyone had their exhaust over temp light come on? does this not work with an aftermarket ECU? What conditions would make this occur?

Yes, No (Used as an Check Engine Light in the PFC), i think you would be able to sense the heat from your tranny tunnel before that light comes on. :)

I had the same prob...unlock the doors w/ the keyless remote, the factory alarm would go off. It's cuz the way the stock alarm is "triggered" is by the door lock itself unlocking w/o using the key. There's actually a disarm wire in the driver kickpanel I believe (to the left of your left foot) that I think you pretty much just need to ground (IIRC). The factory wire is disconnected when they install the keyless entry or something along those lines, and once you take care of this wire, you're golden. I'm retarded when it comes to wiring, so I don't have the exact details. But I remember my guy @ Tweeter took care of this issue in about 10 min (he had to take off the plastics, find the wire, tried grounding it one way, it didn't work, so he did it another way, and there you go, I was golden) :D That's one of the advantages of having the guy doing the install being a former FD owner :bigthumb:

This one is easy. Take off the door panel and there is a green/yellow wire. You hook the Ground pulse wire from the keyless entry to that wire. The green/yellow wire needs a negative pulse to disarm.

Merry X-mas from Zero.
