Kevlar clutch disc ?

Anyone have some first hand GOOD experience with Kevlar clutch discs ?

I noticed that Racing Beat and Mazdatrix both sourced their clutch discs from clutchnet.com, but neither carried the Kevlar clutch disc.

Is it more "hype" than anything else ?

Thanks,
:-) neil

Fiber composite material is a non-molded and non-asbestos, textile-reinforced polymer for industrial clutch and brake applications.
Offers uniquely high wear resistance and low opposing surface wear.
Available bonded to carrier plates in thickness as required (often laminated over a cork-nitrile substrate), or as a flexible laminate up to 10 mm (3/8") thick.
KEVLARŪ material offered in steel backed facing riveted to marcel drive plate.
It interchanges with the stock disc and can be used with any of ClutchNet pressure plates.
Long life and durability.
Perfect disc for street applications.
Spring system patented by ClutchNet.

They must be using some composite Kevlar combination to prevent fraying.

In my experience with Kevlar it does not wear smoothly but, frays badly. At the points of wear the Kevlar threads will come visibly loose. For that very reason I never used it as a friction surface, always used it as a strength/thickness layer with layers of either carbon or S-glass making the friction surface.

I'd want to check into just how exactly it is constructed and which part is actually Kevlar and which are not?

My spec clutch has a kevlar disc. In fact it's out of my car right now and it seems to be wearing fine.

Does anyone know if Pineapple Racing's clutch disc is Kevlar ?
