just wanted to share my wire/ fuse tuck project
hey everyone
i really dont share pics of the projects that i work on ( even though i should ) but i would like to start with this one, this is my wire tuck, fuse box and relay box relocation, as some may know, im building a 2jz rx7 and ive been putting ALOT of time and effort in my engine bay, cleaning it up, deleting certain things ect ect, anyways.... this is what i did and my thoughts: alot of people that i've seen relocate their fuses to the storage bins, in my case, those are also deleted lol, im building a custom speaker enclosure in its place, hence y i can not use the storage bins to relocate my fuses and relays, so where does that leave me.......glove box.....naaah......stock.....too boring and too easy.......trunk? hmmmm with a custom flooring? i decided to completely hide them from sight and since i do not have a spare tire, the small storage area where the tire iron and jack are my best bet! what i did was i took the stock body harness and pulled it out from the front of the car and laid it out inside the car, deleting what i didnt need... certain clips like the ABS and what not i extracted from the harness and led them back out through the fire wall while maintaining everything else inside the car. after laying and extending the harness in certain points i managed to tuck all the wire and ran them all to the back of the car. i managed to relocate the relays to the passenger side bin area, on the driver side i managed to squeeze in the fuse box, the main fuse box, and the headlight relay, below are some pics i hope you like it here is the passenger side, notice how i used the stock wire runner ( white clip ) and tucked my new added wire inside of it http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...7/IMG_1515.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...7/IMG_1523.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...7/IMG_1532.jpg driver side is still under construction......... here are some pics of the trunk layout ( floor not done ) http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...7/IMG_1524.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...7/IMG_1525.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...7/IMG_1526.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...7/IMG_1527.jpg im still not done with this little project, i still need to make the flooring for the trunk, the sub enclosures, and finish the driver side, i can post more pics of process IF you guys want, also if u guys want to see anything specific let me know and i'll take pics and pose them for u, like the fire walls and what not, i know i didnt do a great job explaining what exactly i did..... any ways i hoped u enjoyed my first attempt in sharing my project with the club....also check out some of my random pics below thanks -Tony heres are some random pics of my "shop" http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...7/IMG_0280.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...ra-8651JPG.jpg me working on the 2j http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...7/IMG_0333.jpg old engine http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...0819080923.jpg new engine :-) http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/h...7/IMG_1243.jpg |
Good luck on the project!
A lot of work you got yourself into =). I like the place were you mounted the new fuse box, I do not even remember what goes in that spot. I only saw two wire tucks done, one was on a civic and an is300. The civic did a great job hiding everything I didn't even realize at first the wire tuck was done, just seemed very empty and clean. The is300 was a buddy of mine (total idiot) he used speaker wire for the extensions... long story short, he ended up purchasing another harness. |
Since u r doing a swap, are u selling a.c fan relay bracket?
Anyway good luck with the project, that's allot of work why not just buy a Supra? |
lol no speak wire used here, i actually went out and bought wire that matched the different gauges of wire the RX7 comes with
|
nice work. i'm contemplating doing this but i'm not very patient :)
