cool how long?

SanJoRX7 07-21-03 01:13 AM

Do you at least get money for slapping stickers on your FD? I know guys that race bikes do, but they all are really adamant about dumping the stickers once a sponsor fails to pay up.

Sparkey 07-21-03 01:49 AM

Very Nice! We have a place like that down here in Dallas/Fort Worth its called Motorsports Ranch havent had a chance to get there yet but will be going soon when my fd is up and running again.

Tim Benton 07-21-03 03:53 AM

how fast were you able to get on the long straightaway? Long long of a track is it? 1.5 mile 2 miles?

Damain,

Nice pic. Perhaps I'll have the privelage of sharing the track with you and Captain Farrell...when I finally decide to attend a MADS VIR (formerly @ Summit Point) event?? Or perhaps I'll hook up with Tim Benton and go back to Road Atlanta. Talk about a serious race track (hee hee LOL :) )

SleepR1 07-21-03 07:11 AM

Here's a link to some pics of one of my MDC drivers education events. This was March 2003:

I am not invited? :(

ptrhahn 07-21-03 08:56 AM

I ran the pre-FIA (no chicane on the back straight) version of Road Atlanta for my Barber 3-day school... i'm not sure i'd want to run that circuit in a car that i'm financially liable for!

Maybe the final down hill corner isn't as hairy now, but i doubt it.

Actually Damon, I think Manuelo is a tad confused.......we're talking about Motorsport Ranch in Granbury, TX, and he's talking about the Mid Atlantic Driving Seminar out in VA......

Come out to Fort Worth on vacation, Manny :)

kyle@insight 07-21-03 09:15 AM

Dammit I wish there were some road race tracks around here. Just auto-x :(

Not to thread hijack, but while we're on the subject of nation-wide track meetings, will anyone be at the Trackmasters Watkins Glen event on Sept. 1-2?

they put a chikane (spelling?) on the end of the straight so you don't go flying off into the trees, but one of the sweeping turns is banked slightly so you can fly in there, but the track is only 1.2 miles so in the straight I have seen 110 before the chikane if I come into the straight right... it also depends on how they setup the track, they do it different sometimes.

brainerd raceway is huge, I get to 135-140 into turn one (I'm stock HP) and modified cars can get to 170+ going into turn 1, it is supposedly the fastest turn in the nation or so I was told.

I'm about to send the money in to crash the PCA Aug event at Road Atlanta. I hope to have the 1200's in place and tuned by then, but if not, I'll turn the boost down (safely) to 12 and do the mods afterwards.

Tim
