just lowered my car and my abs light comes on!!!!!!help

hey guys i just lowered my car today and now my abs light is on...lowering it was no easy task ...well the back wasnt bad but the front sucked...anyway...does anybody know why the light would come on and how to fix it??

Does it come on right when you start the car? or once you start rolling over 5mph or so? If it's the latter, you probably broke one of your abs sensors while working on it. You can test the sensor by unplugging it and measuring the resistance of it. The connectors for the front ones are located in the engine compartment, towards the rear. The passenger one is right in front of the abs unit attached to the side of the compartment. they should read between .8 and 1.2k ohms.

is it an easy fix? expensive?

poss 01-10-04 07:09 PM

If the sensors are bad, it can get expensive. New they are $200+ each. I found a used one for around $60 IIRC.

Also check the wire connectors ,you could could have pulled one and have a bad connection or broked wire .

flyboyjuge 01-10-04 07:56 PM

i hope they arent bad because there was alot of pullin, stretchin, and bending today. i guess ill try to wiggle some wires around tommorow...but its friggin cold right now...anyway...thanks everybody

MakoDHardie 01-10-04 08:44 PM

ah shit...I hope I didn't do the same thing. I guess I won't know until I have the motor back in and running. As long as the brakes will still work enough for me to drive, I don't mind replacing a sensor if they'll be easy to get to once the car's back together.

ck urbrake fluid and make sure its full.

people tend to pull the wire out of the abs sensor in front when they are cranking on the front suspension trying to drop it far enough to slide the shock/spring combo out. Always take an extra minute and take the sensor out of the wheels in front.
I'll bet the wires pulled out.

99% sure those wires got pulled and broke the abs sensor wire. did the same and replaced the sensor w/ wire, all good now.

flyboyjuge 01-11-04 10:23 AM

so im probley lookin at 200 bucks for a sensor??

alberto_mg 01-11-04 11:04 AM

the sensor is ~$135 new from malloy mazda. search for malloy if you want a number.

i did the same thing when I did my springs.

you can also try and get one used by posting in the parts wanted section. i got mine for $40 that way.

RX7SpiritR 01-11-04 11:23 AM

damn....springs shouldn't of been that hard guys. That sucks though, hope nothing too serious/expensive.

flyboyjuge 01-11-04 11:55 AM
