Notes: Fits pretty good. need to be trimmed in the rear and the sides of the cupholder. Will not fit on the bottom of the double din cause it will hit/interfer with the shifter. the Oem shift knob rubs slightly when shifted into 3rd gear.

Force13B 02-02-11 04:28 PM

:lol where did you find that thing?

AzEKnightz 02-02-11 04:37 PM

I was about to say wouldnt it rub on the bottom? I hated it when something blocking or rubbing on the shift knob. Good find and cool idea, but I wouldnt do it =).

Found it at the pick a part. i think it was only 3 bucks or so.

It rubs a little with the oem knob but im thinking if i get a short shift or shorter knob i should be okay.

lol great find lol. You gotta tell us what make and model did this cup holder came of?

P.S. If I were to install this in my FD I'd be my GF's hero lol... As she is always complaining about no cup holders lulz

evot23 02-02-11 04:51 PM

cup holders...bah! Does look good though.

1QWIK7 02-02-11 05:28 PM

Doesnt look right.

Get a regular 3 dollar door cup holder.

Why install a permanant one? Unless you constantly road trip your car for long distances.

OriginalFake2 02-02-11 05:37 PM

Nice!

I think this came from a Honda? They are big into cup holders.

Turk82 02-02-11 05:38 PM

Definately from a 90s Taurus. My family has had a few of those cars, haha. fits pretty good.

moconnor 02-02-11 05:41 PM

Search for "DIN cup holder" on eBay and you can find these.

NoPis10 02-02-11 06:45 PM

Good idea....

BUT no one eats or drinks in my FD so I won't need one anytime soon...

This.

There was only one time a LONNGGG time ago where i really needed that cupholder.

I remember i had to go to dunkin donuts for my dad cause he was sick and wanted coffee and i was going to take the FD out for a drive and my other car was blocked by my dads truck which i didnt want to drive so i took the FD.

It sucks having to shift and hold 2 cups of coffee in place on the passenger seat driving in the city. lol

Other than that, i never needed it. I drink mostly drinks with caps on it. Snapple, gatorade, water. So i dont need a cupholder.

cupholders came out of a old taurus, not sure which year but you could probably order them on ebay or something.

Narfle 02-03-11 12:54 AM

If you switched the cup and the coin it might work. Good odds with a short shifter, shorter aftermarket knob. The lack of cupholder is definitely one of my biggest dislikes about the FD.

ThaiTea 02-03-11 01:11 AM

Hmmm... I think the engineers didn't put cup holders in FD for a reason. But if it's a must for you then very nice.

FD3sAutobot 02-03-11 01:57 AM

My wife would love me if I did this mod. My FD is our "date" car. She always complains about not having a cup holder after we go to the movies and get a shake.

They didn't do a lot of things for a reason...somehow most of us manage to change almost every aspect of this car...a cupholder is nothing compared to what people have done to their cars.
