OH MY GOD.

did you by chance get bad gas mileage before changing it?
|
dont know, i dont pay any attention to my MPG - i just fill it when its empty. I've worked out my MPG once before, ill do it again now ive changed the filter.

LOL Mine went without incident took an hour (first time) just followed the advice from Robinete's site, ran the tank down to 1/4, pulled the fuel pump fuse, opened the fuel tank cap, and very little gas came out. Most of the work is done blindly and a good pair of long reach bent nose pliers were a big help but not too bad. Welcome to the RX-7 world ! ! ! |
im planning to do this today or next weekend............pray for me!

It's really not too difficult of a job -- just somewhat of a hassle for a fuel filter. Just study how it is mounted, then go at it blindly.

waiting for winter off season to do mine :o

While you were up there, did you remount it in an easier to reach spot?

Next time I change it, I'm probably gonna relocate it to the engine bay like some others have. |
Yep just did mine today after reading this thread. I went at it with 2 flashlights, car on stands, one pair of needle nose pliers, 1- 10" socket with medium extension on a 3/8's drive. Pretty easy just a pain in the ass trying to get the hoses off the filter other than that it was a breeze.
I could really feel the performance gain after that. My car still had the STOCK ORIGINAL  Fuel Filter. Somebody really has been playing with the weed with my car. The whole car is original except for the plugs and oil filter and AST. I mean original brakes, everything. I'm just glad I got the poor '93 FD before she went to the grave. But you aren't kidding the Fuel filter is a monster compaired to my first gen which is a breeze, 15 minutes! |
It wasnt as bad as its hyped up to be. I thought it was gonna be horrible but only took me like a hour my first time. O and dont forget to paper towel your wrists ;)
|
Its really not that bad. Mainly takes the right length extensions and angles to get at it. IF you are local lemme know and I'll do it for you.
|
i didnt get that much gas on me, but i pulled the line off the fuel filter and forgot to release the pressure from the tank so i had high pressure fuel coming out haha, just plugged the line back in and opened the gas tank.
After that, it pretty much went without incident. removed lines and plugged them with minimal spillage, and the lines went back on the new filter with no problems at all. Re-mounting it was a bit of a bitch though |
