Just aligned my suspension

Well, since Isadore is scaring away all of our customers, I decided to do an alignment on the FD today. It wasn't too far off, but every little bit helps. It was surprisingly easy. It only required two 17mm wrenches, a 14 mm, 19 mm, and a 21 mm wrench. Oh yeah, and an alignment rack. Didn't take long at all. Just thought I'd share. The best part of all: I was getting paid for it! I love my job.

speaking of alignment, how much have people been charged for alignment on the front/rear, if no parts were needed? gettin mine re-aligned next week wanna get a ball park for a price

In San Francisco, the shop that I work at charges $49.95 for a 4 wheel computerized allignment. The alignment on the fd is very simple and easy to do even though everything is adjustable. When i did my free alignment at work my co worker adjusted the car while i was sitting inside, i had him adjust the car to the far range of negative camber and postive caster. Something which we usually dont do. Oh and for rims bigger than 17 inches theres an addition charge because we have to use adapters on the sensors.

ok need a quick answer here, what's the correct torque to use to tighten the lugnuts?

P'cola FD 09-26-02 08:27 PM

I think the lug torque is like 80-100 ft/lbs or something of that nature.

JimmyJimboJet 09-26-02 08:30 PM

hey just found the answer right before you posted... thanks though

sidenote:
p'cola, i remember bookmarkin your thread on the engine rebuilds/ports you would do, any take you up on that offer yet?

P'cola FD 09-26-02 08:34 PM

neoamd is bringing me his engine in a few weeks, but he's giving that one to me. I'll pull it apart, and port it, and oince I get the money for whatever parts I need, I'll put it in my car. I've had a few other people show interest, but no one has given me a definite yes. I'll have fun with neo's motor, though. *evil grin*

I paid $90.00 for mine. This guy was the only one willing to put my lowered FD up there and he did an excellent job and showed me how to do it myself, and what each thing ment on the print out. Even asked what I wanted it set up for. I said tire life. =)

You just HAD to be 700 miles away, didn't you? :p:

P'cola FD 09-26-02 08:54 PM

C'mon flybye, you know you want to see our beautiful white sand beaches? Which are now, subsequently, spread all over the streets by the water. I love hurricanes!
Oh yeah, flybye, do you need an alignment from hitting that curb? ;)

P'cola FD 09-26-02 10:03 PM

Damn, no doubt. But we hardly ever get bad hurricanes up here. I rember a few years back during hurricane Georges, I rode my bike 6 miles to a friends house, in the thick of the storm. That was fun!
