Jdm R1?
I am currently purchasing a 1992 JDM FD and I just received the pictures was hoping someone could tell me how to possibly identify the car as an R1 model. I have tons of pics but no real clue what to look for on a 92 JDM.

I see an R1 lip and an R1 strut bar, but it is hard to say I don't beleive they came with fog lights but after 15 years... The main thing you (I) want to check is the dual oil coolers. I think it also should come with cloth seats and stiffer suspension.

did they make R1 in MB?

Nope, no R1s or R2s in MB.

They might have made the Rs in MB in Japan. I don't know. I can't quite make out what's in the passenger side oil cooler inlet, but the plastic cover on non-R1 models is not there. No cruise either. And cloth seats. Could quite possibly be an R1.

two models in japan
type r and type x i have a jdm type r, and it has the dual oil coolers, the strut bar, suede seats, and no cruise control from what i have done in research, the type x has the sunroof.. aka the touring over here |
well, if it's got the stock dual oil coolers and the look of the R1, then it's probably an R1, and even if it isn't, you still got what you need. If it's on the original suspension, more than likely the suspension's gotta get overhauled anyway in a little while. Nice car by the way.

I have an R1. It's true about the dual oil coolers. If it's got two oil coolers in the front and has no cruise control then it's an R1. Hope this helps man.
