JDM Motor?
Hey Guys,
Will a JDM shortblock (motor only).. swap into a US Spec FD without issue. I know you can't do a full engine swap due to the wiring harness being on the opposite side. So.. just the motor only. Thanks Guys... Stoked to finally have my FD back and running after 6 months! |
I believe so.

You can use a JDM wiring harness. My car has a full JDM front clip transplant including the harness/ecu/etc... The previous owner did the swap so I can't give you any details about how it was done, but it's doable.

Just finished wiring a Jspec engine for a customer last week. It's not drop in and go you'll have to modify the X-05 and X-14 connectors if I remember correctly. With that, you'll also have to pop all the pins out of the one harness and re-pin them to the correct fashion.
If you want to buy a Jspec motor and use a US spec harness you're good to go. Using the Jspec harness requires attention and you might find broken wires and shorts in the harness to repair like I did. The job took several days to pinpoint and repair the wires and in one case I had to run a new brown/white wire to the TPS, OMP, and MAP sensor. I'll I'm saying is be ready to expect the unexpected. |
Just the shortblock will drop right in.
A longblock needs harness mods. |
