JDM Harness/Dash + USDM ECU: Any issues?!?

So, I've searched quite a bit and haven't found the answer I'm looking for just yet. I was hoping perhaps someone with more knowledge than I could help me out :)

I'm basically running a JDM wiring harness w/JDM dash harness and I'm looking to use a stock USDM ECU on all of this. A previous thread stated that I had to re-pin the engine harness if I'm using a USDM dash harness. I'm not though so I imagine I won't have to do this.

The other thing mentioned was in regards to the fuel thermo check light. Will I have to modify these pins since both harnesses are already JDM?

Finally, should I expect to have any issues running a USDM ECU on the JDM harnesses? I'll be running non-sequential and I've already put in the resistors to accommodate for that.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Running through somewhat of same issues on a friends car.

1. If your running a stock usdm ecu with a usdm engine it will work. Usdm ecu with a JDM might not run to well.

If by Dash harness you mean the Front harness that runs from the drivers side through the front and back into passenger side, no you wont need repin if it replaced with a JDM Front harness.

2. Once again it depends on if by dash harness you mean the full front harness is also jdm, if its not the blue x-05 connector from the Front harness need to be rewired to work with the blue connector of the Engine harness.
Thread to follow if you have a EM car.

3. I would stick with a JDM ECU if the harness and Engine are both JDM.

Thanks for the quick response! Do you know of any quick way I can verify whether the "main harness" is JDM or USDM? I'm about 95% sure it's JDM, but that's not good enough.

Also, would all these problems be dismissed if I decided to run a PowerFC?

What year is your RHD dash harness? If its later 16bit, I have a PFC with engine harness forsale (with the black box).. That might help you with your conversion.

Why do you want to switch to a US ECu? I have a JDM car and had no issues switching to a powerFC . Mine is a 92.

It's not about switching...it is what I have handy. I have a local friend who's willing to let me borrow his JDM ecu to see how that works. If I can run that without issue, I'll just buy a JDM ecu. I'm trying to avoid the hassle of tuning a PowerFC as we don't have too many reliable tuners over here.

i beleive it should work as long as every part you got are for 92-95.

The power fc for the jdm and the US is the same so why would the ecu be different other than some emission stuff?

Of course it will try to send a check engine since there will be emission stuff missing but since there is no check engine light on a jdm, no clue how it will react.

other than that, pretty sure it should work.

I can also get you a jdm ecu for cheap if you want.
