JDM 13B-RE Cosmo Eunos

anyone done this swap in their FD? did a quick search and didn't find anything FD related.

It is not a straight forward install. You would need to drill and tap the rear plate for the motor mounts, swap the oil pan and front cover along with the WP housing along with a few more changes....

Additionally the exhaust sleeves should be swapped out as they are a huge restriction, this can only be done by disassebling the engine....

The other option is a 20b subframe but that is just silly, just to install a 13b-re..

I have .the acosta did for me as a favor we are close friends. he did not like to do this conversion he said it was harder then a 3 rotor.. I .ll post some pictures soon

IMO, speaking from experience, you're better off sticking with a 13B-REW. The cosmo motor needs quite a bit of modifying to fit, and not simple modifying either. Motor mounts are in the wrong places on the rear plate, generally lower spec. motor, restrictive exhaust sleeves, and a quite a bit more. Also the twins that come on the motor are ridiculously small, so new turbos would be reccomended unless you want to go slower.
The only plus, and that's debateable, is the intake manifold. It's got shorter thicker runners than the FD man. which gives better top-end but less mid-range power than FD.
Way too much effort to fit a, stock 200hp, lesser motor that's not better than the REW in many ways.

The way i've heard it described is half way between the s5 & and the REW.

Stock is sequential HT10s which are smaller than the sequential HT12's on the REW, but it makes just as much torque.

I've only seen a few shoehorned in to FD's and it's possible i only saw the intake manifold bolted to an REW. I don't think it's a worthwhile swap.

I'm going with the 13B RE UIM/LIM

and porting the REW to match...

The JC 13B-REW engine has larger porting in the side plates compared to the FD 13B-REW engine. Manifolding lends itself to better mid range response too. Despite the REW tag for both engines, they dont share the same size twin turbo's so be aware that the FD turbo's flow more than the JC turbo's.

How are the intake manifolds actually different. Say i wanted to enlarge my street port to RE size and run the RE UIM with an Xcessive LIM.

Best of both worlds?

THe RE UIM has larger/ equal length runners.

you must use the 13B RE UIM/ LIM together, you can not use the Xcessive LIM...
