jacobs fc1000 blowing power fuse

My car is running pretty terrably. I noticed the fuse on power wires to the fc1000 was blown so i replaced it and it immeadiatly blew again. I thought the coil might be done so i pulled and checked it today and im seeing the correct resistance across it. I checked all the wires to the amp and cant see anything visually wrong.

I dont know any testing procedures for the fc 1000. Even with this power off to the amp will my coil still fire? Cause if only the trailing are firing that would explain alot. I see about 8 volts on each of the wires that goes to the coil with the car on and no fuse. When i put a new fuse in the fc1000 amp it immeadiatly drops to 0v. Any ideas or help is appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

How have you got it wired.

I recently had problems with my FC1000 as well. My RX7 was running like it had a stuck apex seal and I eventually determined that I did not have voltage going to the leading coil. Power was getting to the FC1000 but nothing was coming out. I bypassed the wiring around the FC1000 back to the stock setup and it ran fine again. I decided to check the voltage coming out of the FC1000 (white wire to the + side of leading coil) as the car was running and it was all over the place. It would go from 25V to 3V and would decrease as I would accelerate. I spoke to the tech help at Jacobs and they had no way of troubleshooting the internals of the FC1000 because it is full of epoxy. Luckily the unit is less than a year old and is under warranty. I sent it back to Summit last week for a replacement. If it goes bad again I will be in the market for a different type of ignition amplifier.

Hmmm...sounds like we all have the same problem. My fuse keeps blowing, unfortunately I think I'm out of my 1 year warranty with Summit racing.
