jacking postion

hahaha that's an off title.. but i was wondering if anyone has replaced thier oil pan gasket and thier motor mounts at the same time.. i'm wondering where would be an apporiate place to hoist the engine up from *jack it* from under the car or buy a hoist to prop the engine up. would it also give enough clearance to get at the oil pan too? i am not sure if that made sense but yah anyone has done anything like this can ya shoots some pointers my way thank you

I have no problems swapping out the mounts jacking it up from the oil pan. But if your gonna replace the oil pan while your at it then it wouldnt work that way obviously.

I would go with the engine hoist..

I've had good luck with a block of wood and a jack under the trans as far forward as you can get it. Don't forget to remove your IC hoses and strut tower brace (if you have one).

wait, is it possible to change the motor mounts with the engine still in the car?

yeah, changing the mounts is pretty easy without removing the motor. The pan can be done too, but it is a little more difficult.

so that you distribute the pressure on the transmission more evenly and also to protect that beautiful aluminum case. :)
