Thanks I got my floor jack at Sam's Club. A 3 ton floor jack for around $60. It's heavy as crap but a lot cheaper than the lighter 3 ton floor jack from places like Harbor Frieght. If you have the money, you'll want something like this: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...temnumber=3941 |
I had a set of cheap jack stands for a few years, but I always worried that they would crumble while I was under the car.
To put myself at ease, I broke down and bought 4 of the 3-ton stands from Griots. They cost more, but I feel a lot safer under the car with these. I also have the harbor freight jack that Mahjik linked. Works fine and is pretty light, which is a big plus if you take a jack to the track. Another company that has a reputation for top-quality stands (and jacks) is AC Hydraulic. I'll buy one of their floor jacks when my harbor freight jack dies. They seem to have the lowest minimum height available, but seem a bit heavy to lug to the track-- see http://www.ac-hydraulic.com/uk/index_ws.htm |
I have a Harbor Freight Salvage floor jack, too. But, after seeing this one, I wish I didn't! Anyone want to buy a HFS jack????http://www.drivewerks.com/catalog/to...Hydraulic1.htm

Thanks!! those Jack stands looks real safe!! The floor Jack is kind of pricey!!
I will probably just buy some cheap floor Jack and better quality Jack stand... since I will have to work under the Jack stands |
I have a nice floor jack I got from a pep boys. It works pretty good. I would say get a decent floor jack and good jack stands to be on the safe side with.

Harbor freight has a nice low profile jack that will fit under our low cars. Its aluminum and light weight too. Its not the best quality, but you can't complain for the price.

I bought my Hyd-Jack and stands from Harbor. One thing I always do when I lift and work underneath the FD..., is use the Stands AND, as an extra safety precaution, place the Hyd-Jack underneath in an area that will keep the car elevated should the Stands fail. Just for piece of mind. :)

Thanks FOR all the info!!!

Ya my floor jack just blew the cylinder, I would spend the money for a good high lift jack. You don't want to spend all your time getting the car in the air insted of working on it lol.
