J-Spec Engine Replacement

Hello All,

Here is my situation. I'm putting a J-Spec 13b-rew in my 93 R1. Details are the ususal: Claimed 30-40k miles, Startup Guarentee, etc. My question is.. What would happen if I left everything on the engine the way it came from Japan and just put the American Wiring harness on the J-Spec. When doing a search on "J-Spec Swap" I found alot of information about 8 bit ecu in the 93-95 US Rx7s and 16 bit ecu in the 97+ Japanese. I have a PowerFC in the car which I'm told is 16 bit so would it matter what version of the engine I have? Could I just plug the harness into the PowerFC? Do I even need to swap harnesses if I can route the J-spec wiring to the passenger side of the car? Anyone who has done this please let me know what happened.

Oh yeah. I already know that I'll lose emissions by using the J-Spec UIM/LIM.

Thanks in advance.

No, your US spec PFC will not work with a later j-spec wiring harness.
