today @ 4:00pm mountain time.... i joined the cause. all my hard work, boot camp, training, singin up for six years to get a decent bonus, time and dedication paid off with a simple sing here sing there... and about 12k later... im in!!!!!!! just got my dream car!! 93 fd black, unorthodox flywheel, act xtreem duty clutch, 4"dp,catback, and apexi gt exhaust, 20b fuel pump, 1300cc secondary inj, 5 miles on rebuilt motor and twins(:( i hate twins).... and i did it just to post here and not be a poser... jk... :) .... all i need is any type of FC so i can drive it home.... :( :confused: :( :confused: :( :confused:

I meant have fun with the military career, not the car. I know you'll have fun with the car.

I was implying that, if you in fact did join the military just to buy an FD, you might regret that decision. But good luck to you anyway!

I'm joining the military to get a FD too . . . Glad to see it happens :)

The military isn't that bad. It's what u make of it.

I joined when i was 17........I went guard then ROTC and haven't regretted it (I signed up for college money).

i was able to get a degree in Electrical Engineering b/c of it and managed to get a FC and FD at age 23.

I can retire when i'm 37 and pull double pensions and for an officer it's not bad (collect at age 65 though :()

If he doesn't know it he will find out that there are other benifits to serving.

Dude I think thats great, and I wish you luck and fun with your Fd. Thats good that you set yourself a goal and reached it. There are many members here that have everything givin to them.

thanx guys!!! it feels awsome!! actualy my job doesnt deploy overseas, but i volunteered for a tour in march... tax free for 6 mo.!! i singed up for 6yrs to get the car but i joined the air force to do something... got bored of mom and dad telling me what to do. sadly i got station in montana, but i wouldnt gotten my fd and i know of no one in this town with an fd... i love it!! and like dude said.. its what u make of it, so far the military has treated me good... (exept basic training)... i like it

I was in 9 years, just finished up 8 of those years in Japan.

First year of AFROTC here. I will hopefully pick up my fd next week that the Air Force is paying for. Nothing wrong with the military.

What are you doing in the AF? I use to live in Great Falls for awhile and did some of my MEPS paperwork there.

Japan would be nice!!id prolly do 20 in japan. For now i have to focus on CDCs (career development courese) that will take like 5 months... spend all my $$ on my fd and then after that gets done get college done. :D

I am also 19 and in the Air Force. Stationed in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma (Altus). I just got back from a 6 month deployment(Afghanistan) not too long ago. I just picked up an FD Saturday and am still trying to figure out how to work everything. I'm almost afraid to drive the thing hard for fear of overboosting/running lean. :(

rotc pretty much pays for all of college.

at one point in time the military paid 1.5x my college tuition :)

i double dipped in guard/rotc money and had a guard scholorship.

I figured i made about 1200 per month going to school for free.

think it broke down to

gi bill (with kicker) - 600
stipen from rotc - 400
drill -200
book money (once a semester) 300
tuition assistance (guard once semester) 750

My Fd was my first big purchase after joining the army, but I didn't join to buy it. I join because I was bored (should went ROTC) Army is not mentally challenging.

Well, happy for both things, your FD & joining the World's most prestigeful Military. To all of you who make comments on your own country's military, SHAME ON YOU! We may not be the most payed job but we don't get stuck in an average office job, plus it really pays off in other ways (i.e. benefits, house allowance, medical & dental benefits, trips to Greece, Iceland , Australia, Gibraltar, etc, etc.)
