IRP Motor Mounts
My stock driver's side motor mount recently started to disintegrate, so I've been looking at motor mount options. Finally settled on the IR Performance street/soft mounts as they look like the best fit for my needs--my FD is my daily driver.
It wasn't until I got the old mounts out that I realized why most aftermarket mounts recommend replacing the aluminum mount arm with a steel one. While it looks as though the aluminum one could be machined, I'm skeptical that it would hold up over time. That being the case, I picked up a used steel arm on eBay. I'm ready to install the IRP's but a little puzzled about the small red bushings: are they meant to be located on top of the power plant frame or beneath it? I can see potential benefits of either mounting position. I've spent a few hours searching threads here to try to find a photo that would give a clue about the intended placement of the bushing, but found nothing. I'd like to get this right on the first try if at all possible... Can any of you shed light on this? It would be great to get the car back together this weekend. If not, I'll call IRP on monday to get clarification. Many thanks! |
They're meant to be put on the bottom of the engine support member. The PPF is what connects the transmission to the differential. Just clarifying, not flaming :)
