Interior color

I am curious how difficult it is to change the color of the interior of a 93 RX-7. My car has the tan interior and i was thinking i would like to change it to black. I was thinking really the only things i need to do is the carpeting and the seats. Is there much more i would need to do? How much money should I expect to spend? How much time? How difficult to do? Thank you all for your help.

I really don't think it's that difficult, just time consuming. There are lots of little screws that you may not notice (esp. when you take off the door) and that will be the real problem.

What about carpet? How difficult is that? Also are the panels and headliner all paintable? or do they have to be replaced?

How do you guys think it would look with black carpet and the tan doors, headliner, bins? I am thinking about buying some sparco seats.

All the vinyl parts like the doors, headliner, and visors take paint really well. I use paint specially designed for vinyl. The important thing is to clean everything really well with rubbing alcohol to make sure there is no armorall or other grease on them or the paint won't stick. I also scuff everything lightly with some fine sandpaper. The plastic pieces dont hold paint very well and it will chip easily. I would definately do the doors. I think the tan doors and plastics are disgusting, especially when dirty.

the tan panels do suck ass

have you ever used KRYLON Fusion paint? I've painted some interior plastics with it in other cars and the stuff is fantastic. It's a little bit "too" glossy though, I found.. I wish they had a semi-gloss :(

Make sure the surface is 100% clean as is mentioned above, that is the most important factor in you getting a good final result!

My car is weird, I have a black dash/center console/grey instrument surrounds and door panel inserts, black seats and tan door panels/carpet/rear interior bits. My rear carpet and behind the divider wall is all black as well...
