Intercooling.
Ok all my new post today as the title hints is about intercooling. I know by having a FMIC you have airflow directly hitting it. I have heard that having a FMIC has a high chance of overheating your engine because it blocks airflow to the engine, is that true? A friend of mine informed me that a V-mount intercooling system is the best way to go. It allows air to reach the intercooler and the radiator at the same time. It also instantly turns your intake into a cold air intake and allows a good amount of airflow to the engine.

There is some concern with that, but usually to fit the FMIC the radiator needs to be repositioned vertically, in which case the owner ends up getting a larger capacity radiator anyways.
V-Mount is better for engine cooling, but not really as efficient a FMIC. Theres benefits and disadvantages to both, so it's tough to say which is better. |

It all depends on the person you talk to... some love the V-mount and swear by it, others love the FMIC and others even love the SMIC direction. all depends on your set up and ultimate goals.
as far as the fmic route goes a few people have developed little scoops and things which redirect flow to the rad from below the fmic... better get someone more knowledgable to expand but the idea seems to work quite well |
