this intercooler for an FD?
 

so a person on this forum is trying to trade me this intecooler for my shocks and springs plus cash. i dont even think its for a fd. he claims its apexi

That is DEFINATELY not an Apexi intercooler. It looks to me like a Greddy remake or something. Do you have better pics? It's kinda hard to tell details.

Ask him if he has any receipts or further proof that it's apex. As VegasFD said, that doesn't look like an apex.

That is NOT an apexi intercooler let alone one one suited for an FD.

How do I know this? Cause I've actually called up that place "Advance Jap Auto Import" which is located in Australia and asked them myself whether they sell any intercooler for an FD.

They said they don't stock any and in fact the salesperson said to me most of their intercoolers range around $500 AU mark so would you want to put something like that into your FD? Like many have said before our pride and passion are worth much more than throwing in something as good as rubbish.

anyways i was thinking about getting one.. anything better than stock so so this one for a MR2 I chose this one cuz its small enough to fit inside plus u can't beat $180 right.. what yall think?

how much of a difference does it really make for the extra $1000 that you spend on a brand name intercooler compared to the knock-offs on e-bay?

The difference is you'd installing low quality Chinese knockoff crap into your FD. Stick to the tried and true companies. And with the deals you can come across in the For Sale section, there's no reason not to.

The higher end ones are designed to cool more efficiently, and they are generally built with higher quality, less likely to leak under boost.

Cleaner looking and better fitment/installation.... craftsmenship just looks better overall.

Brand names from japanese tuners comes w/ new brackets, plus all the installation parts you need to re-mount your radiator, A/C condenser piping, and sometimes a new coolant overflow box.

That all makes sence. I was just wondering why someone would go and spend over $1000 more just for a brand name when you can get something that would probubly do the job for a lot less. But I do realise that it won't do as good of a job and that reliabilty could be a issue, so for peace of mine sometimes its worth the extra money.

Wait a second. WTF. I am not trying to rip anyone off. First off this is a Apexi FMIC that i was trying to set up a full through trade from Charlie7 on the boards. I can get him on here and he can verify. Second off this is a friend of mine on AIM talking to you and he isn't trying to rip anyone off either. If you have any questions please message me.

I'll tell you right now, with first hand experience, that I bought a set of down pipes for my 300zx TT from that company(on ebay), and the downpipes were flaking, also.. the clamps are shit. If you do buy that intercooler.. make sure you get different clamps. I returned my downpipes.
