Intercooler Cleaning and Prep.

Allright, I was going to use my beautful small Isuzu NPR Intercooler for my Turbo Project.

I got a pretty good deal on the Large Black Isuzu NPR intercooler. It is the best out of all the NPR IC's, so I definately want to use it.

It's in good condition, except some of the paint is chipping off, making it look worse than it is.

So my questions are:

1) How do I properly strip the paint without damaging it?
2) Could a Radiator shop strip and prep it?
3) Or does it have to be an Intercooler repair type of place?

My goal would be to have it shine like small polished one above.

Before you ask, - I am not selling the small NPR at this time, I am probably going to use it in Supercharging my Ford Supercrew

go to your local pepboys or kragen and go to the body paint/repair section. they sell paint stripper. Some brands called "aircraft" paint stripper. It's darn darn strong and will take off that paint. I used it to strip the coat of paint off my rims before re-coating them another color. It's very strong and hazardous so use it wtih care. A bottle costs no more than 5 bucks. use gloves and make sure none of it gets on you.

I take it that by being called "aircraft" paint stripper, it should be safe on aluminum?
