Intercooler....?

hey guys

i m thinking of upgrading my stock intercooler to a greddy Spec M one
i asked a mechanic and he reccomended not to use one which has the pipping on the sides. and its better to use one which has the pipping on the back like the stock one.
(i m on a few mods like induction kit exaust and a power fc )

what would you reccomend guys ?

thanks

Do some searching - the new Greddy is a front mount intercooler (FMIC) versus a stock mount intercooler (SMIC). There are pros and cons to each - a front-mount blocks airflow to the radiator and can run hotter, but a stock mount is in the hot engine bay. There's plenty of long debates over the merits of each.

Like dale said theres pros and cons to each but do you do alot of highway driving or street driving? if you do alot of street driving then you will notice the temp increase due to the stop and go driving but if your on the highway you shouldnt notice much. Just do some good ducting and you should be fine.

I love my greddy FMIC. If I were to do it again I would have purchased a koyo right along with it though, and done the fan mod. It does block airflow signifigantly at low speeds, like stop and go traffic, unless you have your fans on constantly. At high speeds it's awesome though. My intake temps stay really cool. Be aware of how much work the greddy takes though, you usually have to cut your front bumper up, and a little bit of the frame for the piping.

well where i m there are no highways really
its mainly going to be for street driving .

i dont mind cutting the bumper because in fact in getting a new done soon so i can customize that

any reccomendations for intercoolers that are mainly for street driving?

I second the ASP Medium. I'm running it, and love it. It's a bit pricey though.
