Intake Air Temp Sensor
I seem to have developed a problem with my intake air temp sensor. Most of the time it will read just fine. But maybe once a week, it will start reading between -10 and 0 celsius. Has anyone ever experienced a similar problem? Does anyone know exactly where the temp sensor is? I know it resides under the UIM mounted in the rear-most runner. I'd like to be able to grab it and give it a shake, to see if the wiring is loose, without removing the UIM. Any other suggestions besides a loose wire or busted sensor?

I would suggest moving the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor from under
the upper intake manifold (UIM) to somewhere between the intercooler outlet and the throttle body. The UIM acts like a huge heat sink and never lets you read true IAT once you have heated it up. You can reach the IAT from the firewall, reach in about the middle. It's the only harness that goes to that location. You can cut the wires and extend them to the new location. You can plug the location or order a new sensor and go from there. The net gain is better response to IAT changes. |
Mine was doing the same thing... I replaced it and well it doesn't do it anymore... cost about 50 bucks! ouch! Its under the UIM and I think it is possible to replace it using a open end wrench... I say pull the uim and go from there... once it is off it will take about a min to switch.

Anyone else move their IAT?
