I think you should add the fins on the red car for directional stability;)

twinturborx7pete Oct 14, 2004 11:59 PM

which diffuser is that?

SyderJL Oct 15, 2004 12:01 AM

It looks like the old school RE Amemiya Diffuser.

Damian, the car looks great. I love the combination of the front lip/undertray, feed side skirts, and the diffuser with CYM. Everythings coming along nicely. Good job. :)

i think its the RE one but the older version, not the newer one, I was going to install that one but it didnt fit as well with the hitch

you can see the RE pro (newer version) it in the back ground of the middle picture, against the wall

OneRotor Oct 15, 2004 12:29 AM

looks great....just one question: why do you have a hitch on your car? it looks like a serious road-course car, is that part of a u-haul sponsership?

first off, yeas this is a serious road-cource car... look at my vids:

http://www.myrx7.com/movies

but the hitch is to pull a small trailer with the track rubber and tools:

this is not a new thing, im late in the game on this actually, a few FD track junkies had this setup a long time ago, im just following their footsteps.

ROTORhead93 Oct 15, 2004 12:35 AM

Looks good! Now you'll have to test it out and let us know if it actually works! :bigthumb:

Great combination. That's the best looking rear diffuser for the FD imho.
Good luck in the run. Have fun! :D

Come to think of it, I have seen your videos. Never seen that done with a serious track car, but it's quite ingenious. I used to work for a guy in High School that drove his NSX at Gingerman in Michigan about every other weekend, and he always would just drive his car there, racing tires and all (Toyo Proxies TS-1's)

OneRotor Oct 15, 2004 12:59 AM

by the way, i'm going to school up in Houghton, MI at Michigan Tech (on the Keewenaw Peninsula), how far is the closest track to up here where you guys drive (i see that you're from Minnesota)

KaiFD3S Oct 15, 2004 01:13 AM

looks good Damian

Nghtstlkr7 Oct 15, 2004 01:20 AM

damn nice :bigthumb: how much did it set you back?

diyman25 Oct 15, 2004 01:31 AM

Look nice. hope you will " feel" the different.

I thought you already got trailer and track. because on of your video I thought you unload the car from trailer?

I've seen it done quite often in SCCA club racing, often in the spec classes (Spec Miata, SRX-7). The guy who won the big Spec Miata race a couple years ago at Laguna Seca (where they had that 70+ car start) had just a tire/tool trailer. The announcers made quite a big deal of the fact.

The problem is that once you pass a certain point with a "serious" track car, it's a) no longer street legal, and b) you probably wouldn't want to drive it significant distance on public roads even if it were. At that point, you look at tow vehicles and car trailers.

Hope the weekend goes well, Damian!

Scrub Oct 15, 2004 08:47 AM

wow, it's coming along nicely. I'd be interested to know how that diffuser helps out once you get back. I am also designing front splitter/undertray for my car. I'd like the bumper to be a little more stable. I was also going to attempt to design a full underbelly pan eventually when I have access to a lift like yours :) Congratulations though, car looks graet. I don't think the person that sold the car to you could have sold it to a better person. Damian, have you designed ducting that forces air to the radiator/IC from the front bumper?

Dan, check out this response: https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...4&postcount=91

A lot more info about the whole undertray is on that thread too.
