Yes it is ok. Do a search, someone in this forum has done it before.

vudoodoodoo May 5, 2003 07:51 PM

Should be OK. Better than a 93 engine. They updated it a bit and got rid of the rat's nest. 99 spec turbo too... = P~~

How about the computer should update or not?

SpiritR May 7, 2003 02:07 AM

Yes you need a computer...

SaulV May 7, 2003 08:38 AM

Just contact Rotaryworks.com or rotaryworks on aol IM and they have them for sale...complete from turbos and harnesses

Crash May 7, 2003 09:41 AM

ON problme you'll run into isthe the harness wants to come in on the drivers side of your 93 right at your feet. Sure you can get around it some how but may be fun trying

99+ spec ECU is diff from the 93 ECU

Herblenny May 8, 2003 10:29 AM

by my understanding, the 99 spec ecu is different in programming (because of the turbos).. but the wiring is the same..

Cihuuy May 8, 2003 11:57 AM

i think the 99 spec ecu is 16 bit/32bit... not much changes in the engine... so y not get an older engine and the 99 spec turbo?? doesnt that save more $$$?

SpiritR May 9, 2003 08:09 PM

99 spec is 32 bit. Wiring and plug are NOT the same.

yeah not much of anything changes with the engine- just newer.

if he is in Hong Kong doesn't he have a right hand drive anyway?

Little 7 May 9, 2003 08:47 PM

I believed Hong Kong mechanic know how to swap engine in cheap labor cost. Don't worry on the swap's stuff, just find a 99's engine is difficult
