Input on this setup ~

This might be moved to the ST sections but I wanted everyone's imputs on companies, what worked best for them & if I'm missing anything key here.

Well I've decided not to waste the money and mod the twins. I'm happy with my downpipe, catback and intake for now. Anyways I'm just going to go straight to single turbo and nothing big mind you. Here is the setup I'm going to run for a nice 350rwhp setup thats fast spool & reliable!

Ecu ~
Apex'i Power Fc w/commander (Do I need a 3 bar map sensor?)
Fuel ~
Nippon/denso supra fuel pump
Injectors ~
Primaries - 850's swapped in
Secondaries - 1300's (Recommendations on companies? I heard RC is good)
Unorthidox full pulley set
Intercooler ~
Ebay V-mount - Greddy elbow, custom Ic piping (btw ~ Core size 24x12)
Rad ~
Koyo which will be flipped with the nice v-mount setup.
Oil Coolers
Dual earl's 19 row - S.S fitted lines
Turbo :) ~ HKS To4-E (P-trim) full kit

Extra little side notes ~
Air-pump eliminated
Samco hoses

General question? Is it better to run a boost controller on top of the pfc or can I just select a map a map on the go? Is the knightsports EBS III integratable with the a single turbo setup if the sequential control is removed?

Btw ~ Goodfella I'm going to need alot stuff chromed :)

Imput on what you think of this setup PLEASE!

Send your 850's to RC for the 1300 mod. They do a good job and send you a spec sheet before/after

Later

I wouldnt bother with the unorthodox pulleys. Lots of cash for little benefit.

If you plan to run more than 16 psi, go with a 3 bar map sensor.

Definitely get a boost controller, dont rely on the pfc for that.

My chromer is standing by  :D

HkS tubo kit is nice but little over priced IMO. Talk with PFS about there complete turbo kit.

If you are going to spend money on a full HKS single turbo setup, do yourself a favor and get a real IC setup. First, you aren't going to have an effective setup just taking the Koyo and laying it at a downward angle. The V-Mount kits are expensive as they come with a radiator which has been modified to move the inlet and outlet to work in that position. Unless you plan on hacking up the Koyo yourself, the setup is not going to work very well. Either buy a real V-Mount kit, or get the ASP SMIC.

As for the fuel, if you are looking to be around 350rwhp, you can do that with 4x850's without a problem.

Wow.. this is a pricey project, when you add in the cost for a proper V mount setup. Hmm, maybe the maintenance on the stock turbos wasn't so bad after all?

Upgrading to BNR's would still be allot cheaper and still even if you had them Non Seq. That's gotta be faster spoolin and reliability too?

The V-mount setup I'm doing myself. A really good friend of mine does wonders with welding an Fab work so I'm going to have him reverse the spouts on the koyo and fab up some brackets for the flip and mounts for the IC. I'm not just laying it out sort of say, I'm going the full nine with ducting and properly securing this setup to the max. From the air passages to how it will hold in place I'm 100% confident that it will be just as good if not better then a fully priced setup. (Enough talk though I'll let the pix & first hand accounts speak for themselves when its done)

The turbo setup an all will be used, I'm not buying a new setup it's way to much for something I can have rebuilt for a fraction of the price.

Rich ~ what pulley set would you recommend to kill of the air pump?

Bump for imput ~

RXtacy Nov 19, 2007 04:08 PM

I would look the rx7store.net turbo kits instead of the over priced HKS kits.

The Driver Nov 20, 2007 10:32 AM

Well I'm always up for a garret To4-E setup but do they still come with all the hardware like the hks kits do?

The Driver Nov 20, 2007 06:55 PM

Not as expensive as you'd think :)
