Inner Tie Rod Dimensions??

I'm looking for some help on finding out the dimensions for the inner tie rod. Specifically, I'm looking for:

1. total length
2. outer tie rod end diameter, thread pitch
3. inner tie rod end diameter, thread pitch

If someone has an old inner tie rod removed, but doesn't have the tools to measure, I will buy it from you to measure. The reason I am researching this is for my MX6 suspension. I would like to put the JIC RX7 inner tie rods and the megan racing RX7 tie rod ends on my 93 MX6. Don't want to drop the cash without determining whether they will work.

Thanks,

Reuben

I have a 94+ tie rod right here. It has fine threads on the inside end, where 93s and early 94s have a coarser pitch and are not compatible.

You'll need to make sure you get the right pitch for your application from JIC. In fact, why not contact them directly?

Good idea, I will contact JIC for their specs. What is the total length of the stock inner tie rod and the diameters for each threaded end?

thanks,

reuben

Well I managed to dig out the 94+ that I have. M12x1.25mm on the outer end, 1.75" long. The inner is M16x1.5mm and .67" long to the shoulder. It looks to be just a shade over 300mm from the end of the outer to the shoulder on the inner.

I got it backwards - the inner is a finer thread on the 93s and early 94s, probably M12x.75mm

great, thanks so much for the help. this saves me from buying a cheap stock part just to measure it. i will post a response when i measure my mx6 tie rod dimensions. i hope these are a bolt on, as that will be stronger than fabricating a custom one by welding the outer end of a rx7 tie rod, to the inner end of a mx6 tie rod.

interestingly, the JIC part is listed as 93-96. that is odd there are different threads on the early 94's and 93's.

Why not just order super angle tie rods, I hear they make them for alot of different makes. There not that expensive either imo.

thanks, i didn't know about those. looks like there have been some bulk buys on here for the "Superangle inner and Super*Now tie rod end package". i will go this route if the inner end size is the same between vehicles.

i have measured my outers and as expected, mx6 is different. M14x1.5mm is the mx6 size. i'm still waiting to measure the inner tie rod ends (waiting for some other posts on probetalk and mx6.com to pan out so i don't have to go to junkyard to measure). as long as inner thread is same, i can just replace with the entire rx7 assembly, which will be sweet.

BTW: just removed my donor 1993 inner tie-rod and measured the following:

rod to rack: M16 x 1.0 (fine thread)
tie-rod end: M12 x 1.25
