Injector leaking ?

I had a fuel smell coming from my engine so I decided to check it out. Everything looked good so I was stumped. I pulled the primary rail out and decided to pull the injectors. I pulled off the aluminum cap that holds the 2 injectors in place and I noticed that one of the was wet on top. I thought that it was unusual. Has anyone ever seen them leak out the top? They have about 10k km on them. They were freshly cleaned before I put them in.

If you are leaking fuel out of the top, most likely the upper o-ring isn't sealing properly. Are they OEM o-rings or ones provided by the injector service?

The O-rings were on the injectors already. I bought a used cleaned set. The O-rings were new and most likely put on by the cleaning company. The fuel was actually on the plastic part where the engine wiring harness would attach to. Is that still a O-ring failure or injector failure? Where can I get new O-rings from? Can I get them from Mazda?

I would suggest you do a test like this:

You'll be able to see where the fuel is coming from. I would still imagine it's coming from around the upper o-ring, but that test should show it better. You can get new o-rings from the deal for about $60 for all injectors, or from places like:

http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/fdfuel.html

for a cheaper price. I have no experience with the ones RX7.com sells as I've had problems with non-OEM o-rings in the past.

Thanks Mahjik. I went ahead and ordered new o rings for my injectors from mazda. I will post back when I install them and retest.

I reinstalled the new o-rings and tested the fuel system and so far no leaks. Thanks Mahjik.

Well it seems that the leak is back. WTF!!! I replaced the o-rings with factory rings and still they leak. The car is going to be parked in the next week or so and then in the spring I will either order new injectors or get the 850cc primary injector jobby.
