injector gromemt boost leak

When i put my secondary rail back in i couldnt really get the grommet to fit in there just right so i just set teh rail on the gromemts with the injectors going into their bores in the lim and bolted it down hoping the grommets would seal. could that cause a vacuum leak if the grommets didnt seal it all the way?

i sprayed carb cleaner down under the lim and sure enough it bogged, since i was slightly suspicious of a vac/boost leak.

i had to put the damn gromet on the injector and then put it in, it was like too big to fit into teh bore on the LIM. gay ass shit

boost builds a little slow sometimes and at top end boost it kidn of looks like it has trouble maintaining the 10psi.

in 1st gear it wont even hit 10psi, maybe 7 by redline

That wouldn't cause a vacuum problem in the sense of the turbo system controls.

GustavOllufsen 06-14-06 10:08 PM

i dont have any turbo system controls im running nonsequential. i mean i sprayed carb cleaner in there and it stumbled so i know theres a vacuum leak down there, i was just wodnering if i should rule out injector grommets or not

nothin on this? come on this acid's got me all impatient and shit

so theres no way a bad injector grommet would make a boost or vacuum leak?

Yes, If the grommet is bad you will have a vacuum/boost leak. Worse yet you will have fuel vapor leaking out when under boost. New ones are cheap.

well ill give myself a whole hearted pat on the back cause when i tore that shit apart man o man the grommets were like sticking out the sides, sideways, all just raosted to shit and wow just wow. that's gonna solve so much shit , the sounds (i could hear fuel flow but with no leaks..was like wtf..) whistling..of vac leak. loss of power, and just piece of mind that it's fixed

so..need new grommets but gotta get to work this afternoon..

Autozone it? or drive the beater till i get some real ones

GustavOllufsen 06-15-06 11:12 AM

well i cut a piece of old coolant or other type hose of the right thickness down to the right height and circumference and got em wedged down in above the diffuser real good and bolted that rail down and now kablam no more vac leak no more boost leak.

wow..success...for once...im stunned

^^AAAAAAAAAAAAAh! Let's leave it parked. And maybe we should have someone from a qualified garage look at it before we burn this car up.
