Information request for Knight Sports 4Beat ECU unit (FD)

Does anyone have some sort of documentation about these? I have the sticker with some printed and written numbers, but nothing more.

I'm pretty sure about a few things, like the D (date) 92.3.29 (29th of march 1992), and the V-max B. (0,95 kg) being max amount of boost.

The other numbers and letters seem to be a listing of what is done, but without anything to check up against I'm pretty lost.

I have contacted Knight Sports in Japan, but I'm not even sure they can read my e-mail since it's in English ;)

Can anyone shed some light on this please?

When you buy a Knightsports, Mine's, Pan Speed, RE-Amemiya type A,B,C , or even a used HKS F-Con.... YOU MUST find out the tuned specs from the seller.

They are all OEM ECU w/ new chips sodered on, unlike mass production ECU with factory map like PFC where every item from manufactor has a standard setting

if you don't know, he doesn't know, and he doesn't recall from the person he got it from.... then... i wouldn't put it in the car unless i get it re-tuned

Okey, thanks!

And I guess Knight Sports or 4Beat are the ones to do this re-tune?

It's suddently not a very good option anymore. I haven't bought it yet, so no harm done. And of course, I would never install it without knowing for sure :)

Just buy a pettit or M2 ecu if your trying to stay away from a stand alone. You can get them in the forsale section for ~$300.00.

doesn't necessary have to be knightsports to retune this, pretty much any reputable shop that has the equipment and knowledge to tune cars(FD) should be able to do it. That's how most of the street cars are tuned back in the 90's when these reflashed ECU's were the way togo.. including M2, petit, RE-Amemiya, ..etc, and local tuning shops.

I have one of this ecu, and just recently removed it for the PFC.. Mine's setup for intake, dp, mp, exhaust, and smic. So depending on ur mods, if ur car is stock, or even w/ intake and catback exhaust, it should run fine.. just more on the rich side.

these reflashed ecu's are great for their cheap price and nice performance, but if u don't find out what the specs are, and get the re-tuned, you end up spending about the same if not more as getting a used PFC. :\

I only have intake so far :)

And my biggest problem is going waay rich. I'm using between 2 and 2.5 litres every 10 kilometers. And that's not even driving hard. I can smell gas from far away every time I walk out of my car after driving.

I'm down to around 1.6 litres when doing economic highway driving. My o2 sensor is brand new NTK sensor, and all my plugs/wires are brand new.

My fuel consumption is really high, and I'm not sure what's causing it. It's burning a hole in my wallet ;)

So anything that's making me run more rich, would be a bad thing atm for my car.

Uhh. You shouldnt be smelling raw fuel when you get out of your car. Start looking for leaks. Or a leaking fuel injector or somethin. Good luck.

^^ i agree, unburned rich exhaust gas smells significantlly different than raw fuel, or carbon monoxide. Sounds like you're using way too much gas. if you smell raw gas.. you should check for leaks.

dont smoke around your car!!

Not a problem, since I don't smoke ;)

Jokes aside, leaking injectors might be a problem. Haven't thought of that.

Thanks for the tip you two. Any ideas on how I could test the injectors for leaks?

It's not so much that you can actually see anything on the ground under the car after driving or when parked. But a leaking injector could possibly be it.

I should also get my AFR readings so I can really see if or when I'm going rich.

I have Knight sports ECU, i sent mine to him in Japan and then he shipped me back i'm running very good without any problem, my car shooted 352Hp with ecu, intake, cat-back,downpipe and metalit sport catalizer still passing emission test in Europe (more restrictive than USA)
