info on fd

I am looking to buy a FD and i hoped that I could get a little feed back from the pros. #1 I found a 95 fd with 40K miles on the Chasis. The car has a new engine(less than 1000 miles) new clutch, new turbos and the inside looks great. It is at a dealership and the dealer wants 25k. I think this is way to much, what do you think?#2 I drove the car and i was wondering, do you feel the 2nd turbo kick in. #3 When i started the car (it was 35 F) the car vibrated and seemed to rock side to side, is this normal? Sorry for such a long thread.

#1 - that seems too high. You should be able to get one with a "new" engine for $15k to $20k depending on condition and mods. It may take time to find the right one though.

#2 - On a stock car, you really should not feel the 2nd turbo "kick in", the trasition is pretty smooth. A modded car may feel a little different. If the engine has less then 1k miles it may not be broken in yet and should not be driven hard (with much boost) yet. Just keep in mind you are probably not the first one to drive it either...

#3 - The car should not rock side to side or vibrate.

#4 - Oh, there wasn't a #4. Just read all you can before rushing into buying this car. It will take a commitment on your part to maintain. Make sure that is what you really want.

If you pass up this 95, good luck finding another one. It may be a long wait since they only sold a couple hundred of them total in the US for that year.

It shouldn't shake side to side, sounds like a bad engine or something. When I got my new engine installed, it was silky smooth and I haven't even broken in the engine yet.

Might be bad engine mounts, not cheap to fix since you have to lift the motor, and replace them and last I checked they're around $400 or more... (parts alone) depending...

dont try to speak on something you know nothing about

that does not at all mean bad engine, like Dcrosby said, it's probably the motor mounts...

Maybe you forgot to read my SOMETHING! God, what a prick.

25k is too much... id offer 20, or 18k.

You will pay higher for a '95, especially if it's an R2 package.

Although the shaking could be due to motor mounts, I'd still question it for that price. FWIW, mine does idle pretty smooth (no rocking) even when cold, but I'm on some medium mileaged stock engine mounts.

I'd find out who did the motor swap. Even though these motors don't last very long, 40k seems a little early for a blow out.
