Inconsistant boost pattern.

I installed my boost gauge today - a great accomplishment for me, because I am still learning how to do things myself. Anyway, I tested it out, and much to my suprise, it actually worked! I did notice something strange, though - I have a very inconsistant boost pattern. Sometimes it will be very low, like 7-6-5 or something like that, other times it seems to go 9-8-8, other times 9-7-5, and once it went 10-8-9. I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of what to look for? Also, my smaller intake hose was installed incorrectly by the dealership morons, and it was put too close to the belt. The belt cut into it, and there is a small hole in the side. A good friend of mine, Ryan, is giving me his stock intake pipes, and I was wondering if that hole might be causing some problems, and if the new hose would help the boost pattern at all. By the way, the vacuum seemd pretty normal - between 16-18.
Thanks,
Tyler

No that hose is only connected to the air box.
Its actually pretty common for that hose to get a hole from the belt.
You could have no pipes on there at all and teh only thing you risk is a rock fyling into the compressor blade.

It could be any number of things causing the boost to get all "strange" on you.
Check all couplers and make sure they are tight.
Aside from that you would have to get soliniods tested, check actuators etc etc..

OK, thanks. It's nice to know that they actually WORK though. A week ago I thought they were completely dead, so I'll take almost anything they are willing to give me right now :)
