impressive FD design features

I'll get right to the point. I'm unemployed/underemployed (part time) right now so I've got nothing better to do besides cruise forums and read about Rx-7's. So I'd like to point out some random things about the FD from the service highlights document that impress me.

Static-reducing grounding points in the door:

Acoustic wave system: sure it's dated, and I've never even heard a functioning one in person, but it was probably sweet back in the day:

Who would have thought a 2-cent spring could reduce clutch pedal effort?

brake cooling ducts which bypass the oil cooler(s) for increased efficiency:

even though releasing the clutch is annoying during removal from the FD, you don't appreciate a hydraulic pull-type clutch until you drive the ultrastiff, high torque capacity cable clutch like on the 03 Mustang Cobra

Oversees daddy's had an optional left knee pad. This held your butt in place when road racing by bracing yourself in between the door and tranny tunnel.

And yes kids, that is the proper way to drive fast.

^ ^ I have that pad. It does help with bracing but when it is combined with leather seats, your ass still slides around. (I'm getting them reupholstered in alcantara, this should fix the problem.

Thanks for the lecture that's interesting.

Do you know if the brake air duct is on R1/R2 models only?

This would have been a perfect april fools thread :(.

The control arms in the suspension are extremely impressive for a car in the FD's price range when new. They are above or equal to Porsche in quality. The suspension on the car is about as good as you are ever going to get in a production car.
