I'm new =p

Lo all I'm just introducing myself and I'm new to the whole Rx7 experience due to the following story ....

Was browsing ebay for cars yesterday and came accross a couple of Rx7's and I fell in love straight away. Now i'm really on the hunt for a nice one with low mileage but this it seems is going to be a big problem as I live in the UK. Another problem that i'm going to face is insurance.

At the moment i'm driving a 1.2 16v Renault clio which is ok but looking for something different... and Rx7!!! Theres still a year and a half left on the warrenty so i've decided to wait until the warenty runs out and I get 3 years no claims bonus (just over a year and a half) before going on a serious car hunt.

Ive read up on a few websites about Rx7's and their problems and it hasn't put me off in the slightest. Just wondered in your guys experinces which year would be better to buy? (93-95) Would it be better to buy a Rx7 that has just had an engine rebuild or get it rebuilt myself. Anyone know any reputable dealers in the UK? Or if I had to import one does anyone know a good place to try?

Sorry for the long read and hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks

Andy

Welcome!

1. Your general questions can be answered by reading the FAQ thread and by using the search function.
2. Specific questions relating to the UK would best be asked in the European regional forum.

With most cars, its always best to get the latest model you can find. However, don't pick a 95 just because its a 95 and there is a better condition 93 around. At the age of these cars, the biggest difference is going to be the passenger side airbag on the 94-95's.

I would personally get a car knowing it needs a rebuild. If you are going to get one that is already running, make sure to get a compression test to verify the engine's health.

94+, 93 had some um..glitches and other things that mazda fixed inthe 94and above models..such as insulation in the doors to make them sound more solid, and better lamination on the black interior plastics that commonly peal on 93 models...and replacing anything on the car isnt cheap...so get the newest lowest mileage car you can. also make sure you get compression test #'s before you buy it...cause you never know.

pardonmy ignorance..but your in england..cant you get yourself one like a 99 or 2001 model? or is there a restriction on how new a car can be before it'simported like that...just thinking..right hand drive and all..

Thanks for the info! I didn't realise there was a Euro Forum my bad. Being new to all this I didnt actually think they made Rx7's past '95 but after a quick browse I can see they do but I think I still prefere the 93-95's =p

Anyway I'll go post on Euro Forums now and thanks again for all the help =)
