Im assuming something is wrong

Well the pictures pretty much explain it all.. if anyone could give me a hand at what im looking at and what might be wrong.
|
looks like your wiring harness is fucked?
|
Yea apparently,, anyone have a clue what wires those are/what the black plug is for
|
:dunno:
I'd suggest having a shop look at it. If your harness is as bad as it looks, it could cost you a motor(which replacing the wiring harness requires the motor to be removed anyway, so..) |
The engine harness was replaced by the prior owner a year or so ago and there arnt really any close shops.. this is the only problem area that i have found... not to mention i have the transmission already out of the car... so if i can find out whats going on here i can pull the engine if i need and or fix it fairly easy.
|
your harness is not fucked.......
thats just a ground cable with the plastic coating peeled back a bit. not a big deal. the black plug is for the powersteering pump or ac pump. do u have ac? not sure about the broken wire. |

Also what about the oil on the plugs... |
the oil on the plug wires is probably from it spilling out of the oil fill neck while trying to put oil in the car. or the blow buy hose is off. the plugs are right below the oil fill neck. not a big deal. there is an oil level sensor in the oil pan on the left side of the engine. look around. there should be a plug somewhere to attach it 2.
find it. cause a light will come on if the cars oil level gets 2 low in the pan. that could save your motor from losing oil pressure |
Ok,, indeed there is no wire running to the left side of the oil pan where i believe it should be.. ill make sure to get that... i had the plugs changed after changing the oil a month or so ago. I will check the filler neck though for possible leakage... in addition to the oil on the plugs i have a bit of oil residue/oil located around the subframe area behind the oil pan, but i have chalked that one up to a small oil pan leak which apparently is a common problem and i ordered the oil pan brace...
Anything else i could check for the oil on the plugs? |
there are 2 nipples on the oil filler neck. the horizontal one has a PCV (pressure control valve) goin to the uim. the blow buy nipple is the vertical one that should have a hose on it connecting to a fitting beside the turbo feed line. (tough to see)
if that hose are off oil could be splattering on the plug wires. just make sure those 2 hoses are conected to the filler neck. u can also check the gasket in the oil cap or resealing / replacing the o ring where the filler neck attaches to the middle iron. that is likely a waste of your time and is not a real easy task. make sure the 2 hoses are on and clean up with area with some brake clean and c if the oil comes back. but like i said. its probably from spilling oil while filling it up. |

ok ill make sure to check those,, thanks again.. also i went back out and looked at it what is the thing right above the plug.. is looks like there is an oil gathering there as well.
|
thats your knock sensor.... its probably getting oil dripped on it the same as your plug wires.
u can try tightening it up aswell. u can also make sure your plugs are tight. and u can check the banjo bolt for your oil cooler line. but i woud first stop spilling oil while filling up the car. have fun dude....peace |
I think the black plug might be for you coolant temp or the oil pressure sensor. Can't remember which is on that harness...
the oil level sensor is a white connector if I remember. I'd tape up the larger wire where you can see copper. It' your engine ground and you don't want it corroding on you. |
Yea gonna get in there and fix up the ground... not sure what the black plug is for before i tore the car apart the oil pressure gauge in the car always seemed to be really low but i read its usually faulty anyways so i didnt worry about it.
|
Just above the large oil pressure sensor is a small sensor in the rear iron. That's a water temp sensor, and the black connector might go there. It's been a while and I can't remember
|
Im pretty sure i know what your talking about and the connector hanging there looks exactly like the one connected to it
