ignition whats best?

so i just came across the FC1000 by Jacobs Electronics sold on rx7.com. its alot cheaper then the hks twin power. does anyone have this installed on there car and if so could you tell me a bit about it. why is there such a price difference and is this as high quality as a twin power. thanks in advance for your input

The twin power w/harness is a direct bolt-on job and has been proven to work great even with stock coils. The FC1000 will require some wire splicing and is recommended that you use a TII coil sense it has been known to burn out fd coils. That beeing said I run the Jacobs with an FC coil and it has worked flawlessly for me for the past 3 years! I don't see a reason to pay the extra $ just to save a little time installing the amp. Either way, both are quality products.

Build your own. An amplifier on the leading is suitable for most people. If you're planning for more than 450whp I can build you a system with 3 amplifiers, 4 coils, and low resistance wires...

search on a thread from Goodfellafd3s about switching from that amp to the HKS Twinpower.

Just FYI, the FC1000 will work on stock coils. It's the older Jacob's ignition amps which killed stock FD coils.

Pro and Energy Pak lines.

I didn't like the fc1000. It doesnt kill FD leading coils, but it's also not as powerful as the old style pro packs. Jacobs is under new ownership and their new products are not of the same quality as their old stuff according to what I was told.

I'd buy the twinpower despite the higher cost and be done with it. I believe rx7.com sells that unit on their site as well.

thanks everyone for the input. mono ill be sending you an pm. my car is t-67'd right now and on my next tune i should be shooting for at least 450 rwhp. i have all the supporting mods and this just seems like one of the last things left.

so i have been talking to mono4lamar and i might just end up going with a custom built ignition system made by him. if not hks twin power sounds the way to go. thanks everyone for your help and input
