Ignition switch is bad, can i temporarily hotwire my car?

Was wondering if hot wireing my car would work temporarily till I get a new ignition switch??

If so, is it possible to hotwire our cars??

FormerPorscheGuy 04-08-04 01:30 PM

Yes it is.

If you know how then great. We won't teach you.

No one in there right mind wants there car ripped off by this same information you are asking. You live outside of Houston, you should know this by now.

DON"T STEEL MY SHIT.

spoolage 04-08-04 01:40 PM

well can somone pm me info on how to do it???

and also, does this sound like symptoms of a bad ignition switch... I turn the key on, and all accessories come on, power is full, ihave a new battery, everything functions correctly. But when i fully turn the ignition to engage the starter nothing happens. Could this be a result of a bad ignition switch??

spoolage 04-08-04 01:46 PM

Could be your starter

spoolage 04-08-04 01:56 PM

I've already checked the starter, my relays, fuses, bypassed the clutch switch so i know its not that, I have a new battery in, I checked all my grounds and they are fine, the wirirng dosnt show any real corrosion, beisdes a very small amount of oxidation.

I know the car is fine cuz when I push start it, the car runs great. I mean, what else is invovled with the ignition system???

mad_7tist 04-08-04 01:57 PM

dude have you eliminated anything? dont be an asshole. you know a fair amount of shit huh? you dont even know how to jumper a f-ing connector. it could be your starter, it could be the neutral, switch it could be the ignition, or it may be that the car knows you are a clown and is tired of towing your ungrateful ass.

FormerPorscheGuy 04-08-04 02:10 PM

Spoolage, you come on out any time bubba, most seven owners in this city know where to find me.

spoolage 04-08-04 02:29 PM

hah alright, im down

Spool Up 04-08-04 03:08 PM

i place my bet on spoolage

Kevin T. Wyum 04-08-04 03:18 PM

I'd agree, unless you personally know the person it's unreasonable to tell anyone how to hotwire the car, as a private message or not. I can't think of any legitimate reason why that information should ever be discussed. Your foul mouth response to FPG filled with 4 letter words makes you look like a real champ that people should teach how to hotwire an FD.

FormerPorscheGuy 04-08-04 03:21 PM

Thank you Kevin.

spoolage 04-08-04 04:51 PM

I just am sick of guys like you that instantly talk trash at any opportunity avaible. All I wanted was to know if it could be done since my ignition switch is bad and this would save me 130 dollars. I understand the reasons for you not wanting to discuss it and it was dumb of me to ask but you dont have to go calling me a noob or anything else. And if you ever wana go man I'm down, I'll break your face.

ditto

on the other hand, its kinda sad that most people that want to hotwire a car to steal it already know how and that legitiment people have to suffer but thats the world we live in... i guess its kinda like the gun laws in most states. Most people which need guns for protection can't carry them legally but the people which wanna rob others already have guns and the law aint gonna stop them from carrying a gun...

ejmack1 04-08-04 05:36 PM

Just look for the install of the S200 start button and rewire it to start without the key... if you can handle that... then go spend the freakin 130 bucks ;)

FormerPorscheGuy 04-08-04 05:37 PM

Thank you skunks.

There has been a rash of stolen third gens in the Houston area in the past several years. It broke up the seven club here in Houston for a long time. It’s a shame that Spoolage might be one of these unscrupulous individuals. Teaching thieves and hooligans how to hot wire a third gen is no the purpose of this forum.

Spoolage, you are not an asset to the rotary community by posting on this board and you are not welcome at the club.

Umm, I have no idea who any of you are and I dont care but I seriously doubt he was one of those people. If so he would already know how to start the car and wouldnt be on here asking.

STEPHEN

Spool Up 04-08-04 05:58 PM

Haha. FormerPorsche guy, I'm sure he's a culprit who broke the club up a while ago. He must have forgotten how he hotwired all those other cars a while ago, and needs a refresher. Honostly, I went to one of your Houston RX-7 meetings a while ago, and I was quite turned off on how you guys treat new comers as well as young people.

Snook 04-08-04 06:32 PM

my bet is on spoolage as well for kicking the shit out of your face

when you are having a hard time with your car this is the last bullshit you want to deal with. its like coming home from work and school and listening to your girlfriend bitch. you guys just look for shit to bitch at when people really need help you dont think of how the problem is affecting their life...traveling with no car etc

TwinTriangles 04-08-04 06:47 PM

Spoolage, Just rebuild the ignition switch, My car did something similar a few months ago, except mine would turn over all day but no spark and no fuel. I took the ign. switch out opened it up real careful because its got like 6-8 tiny springs inside, sanded all the terminals and everything, greased it all up inside and put it back together.
I tell you my car must have had this problem since I bought it, Because now it starts like it never has before, everytime, right away. As soon as I turn the key it starts.

spoolage 04-08-04 08:08 PM

haha hey twin thanks for the multiple posts. Well I just decided to go s2000 style. Instead of buying a new ignition switch, I just bypassed it and made a relay for the starter, it was really really simple. Just run some standard electrical wire from small hookup on the starter (the one that runs to the posotive terminal on the battery) and wala it works, so i just put a relay in there, hid it in my coin collecter/ashtray what ever you would like to call it near the shifter. Turn the key to accessorie, press the button and wala it starts up. Not exactly perfect but hey it works and I'm satisfied.
