Ignition break up! need help
hey guys,
i been having this problem ever since i did the rebuilt. I put about 3-3.5k on the motor so far. So i never actually punch it to redline and found out at steve kan tuning session that im having ignition breakup. The car in 3rd gear would start to sputter within 5-6k and wouldnt go higher. So we replace the coil, change the spark plug to 9s, check the injector if they were stuck , check ground wire , check fuel pump , check crankshaft position sensor and still no luck. what else could be the problem? My mod list is in my signature. thank in advance for any help. |
coil harness. my primary coil wire werent even attached in the connector, it was just arcing over. mazda made an updated coil harness that didnt have the ground wire in it. if yours is old an crispy i would suggest you look into one.

Check the coils themselves as well as the harness. The stock coils are ok, but they can degrade and turn to goo. Cheap fix would be to put in a couple of MSD coils. Also, what are your AFR's at 5-6k rpm and WOT (if that's where you were)?
You say it won't pull through 5-6k rpms. Does it matter whether you are at half throttle or WOT? Same thing either way? Gordon |

It seem to be alil breakup and pass 6k if I rev slow but if I wot it breakup pretty bad. I gotta still checkup on the harness and maybe replace the coil. hope that the problem. Will update u guy after I check those things. Thx for all the help

How much boost are you running? I have the same problem when I run more than ~13 psi on stock non-seq turbos.
