If you smell gas fumes don't ignore it...
I smelled fumes last week so I slowly started the dreaded project. Got the rats nest off today moved the wiring harness and did the fuel pump jumper for about thirty seconds. There was about a thimble full of gas already pooled by the injector. Wow, Am I glad I listened to all you guys that have had this or the FPD. Thank god I didn't have the 911 "my car is on fire" end result.

Good thing you cought it in time! That is definately something you want to mess around with

My car has smelled like gas for over a year now and no fires..However I did check the FPD and all so definetely make sure! Or be like me and carry a fire extinguisher at all times. Just think my car is running to rich. Kinda like older cars that always smell of gas.

Yeah this was really strong fumes. I could smell it at red lights and after I would park it in the garage it was really strong for a few hours till it all evaporated away. I knew something was wrong, it was that strong.

Good thing you got it figured out though...would hate to see another "RX-7 went up in flames" thread. Too many of those last year.

good thing i got my FPD changed when i got my car.....(was leaking really bad)

Fire extinguisher won't help much. By the time you notice the fire while you are driving its too late. Just get the thing fixed before you put yourself or the people around you at risk.

damnnnnnnnnnn good thing you looked into it
