If you have rust anywhere
I just wanted to inform everyone who has a problem on rust ANYWHERE!
I had just bought a new set of brake rotors and after a few weeks they began to rust. I hated that orange/brown look so I started to do research on how to take rust off, obviously grinding then primer, also there is some spray that will treat rust with some chemical reaction and will turn the surface black. Both ways are fine but I wanted a clean look on my rotors, no primer, and def. no black. I continued my search and found a chem. called Boeshield T-9. EXCELENT!!! I researched on the web and found out it was for use on ALL surfaces. There are two sprays, one which is a type of acid which takes off the rust and the other is a spray that treats the metal to stop rust from forming. I think I payed a total of $19.00 for both bottles and I found them locally at a boating store called "Boaters World". I could not find at Pep Boys, Kragen, ...etc. I can not stress how great this worked. I just sprayed and watched the rust pour off. And with a little scrubbing I got my rotors back to new. Then with the sealer I haven't seen any rust form in two weeks even with the rain we have gotten here in CA. Sorry for the long write up but its a product I feel will benefit anyone who needs to remove rust from any surface. And before anyone asks, No I do not work for them, nor do I sell their product. I am just a VERY HAPPY CONSUMER!!!!:D |
Thanks

Get out the camera man.
|
But does it take paint off too?
|
Its acid!!!!
If you spray some on your paint its okay as long as you wipe it off, but if you leave it on....well i guess you can find out on your own. It takes rust off before it takes off paint. I have my calipers painted and when I tried spraying my rotors with my calipers on, some of the spray went on the painted area. All I did was wipe it off with a damp sponge and the painted area is fine. |
After applying the protectant, did you have any problems stopping the car? :D
On other cars, before a rainstorm, I've WD-40'ed the rotors. As expected, the first few stops were a little slippery. |
Yeah, Boeing developed that. We have several BOESHIELD products where I work.

If there was anything else It wust have been burned off instantly. Rotor still look great! And yes it was developed by boeing. By the same makers who help us fly... man what are they gonna think of next....there gonna end up putting a man on the moon one of these days. |

I know that this stuff will take a while to ship due to being a "dangerous good" (acid). It will have to be shipped by ground. Remember you need both bottles. the remover and the protectant. http://woodworker.com/cgi-bin/fullpr...RUST+INHIBITOR http://www.boeshield.com/index.htm http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg...05537?v=glance |
