idle problem??

Ive been haveing a few issues with my fd today. I seam to be getting some hesatation issues when im flooring it. It feels like the power is just cutting off. And now when im idleing its ideling really rough. It just started doing it today im thinking spark plugs. Could also be a fuel filter issue???? The mods i have done are greddy type s bov and racing beat exhaust. Any ideas on what could be causing this?? Im going to take it into mazda tommorow morning becasue i dont want this problem to cause any others.

Could be one of the ignition coils as well. Mine had a similar case and it ended up being the ignition coils.

Mine seemed like the clutch was slipping, but ended being ignition coils also.

What do you mean exactly? Is it bucking like fuel cut or just sluggish or is it like the 3k rpm hesitation ?

No-Pistons-TT 04-12-05 10:00 PM

buck like the fuel cut off its like theres no power really werid???

now much did thoughs coils cost you guys????

No-Pistons-TT 04-12-05 11:50 PM

Is there any way to bench test a coil? Or, can you only do it while the motor is running?

Check the map sensor vaccum hose...it might've come loose...

Could it really be the ignition coils? If he is getting fuel cut, this is suggesting something different. One of my ignition coils was going bad a while back, and my car was running super rich. Basically the exhaust fumes were so bad, you could see gas vapors suspended in the air. Also, had power loss due to bogging/ running really rich and back fired a lot. Hope this helps.

Let us know on what the problem was when you solve it

Don't tell me you blew the motor already!!!!! I would check the map sensor first then make sure that your plug wires are on properly. Good luck.

The MAP sensor is a little rectangular box (should say "Boost Sensor" on the top) attached to the firewall on the driver's side above, to the right, and behind the brake vacuum unit. The hose comes in from the UIM (upper intake manifold), goes through a little filter , and to the bottom of the sensor. It pops off easily, and if this is the problem, you need to tie-wrap it or use some type of clamp to hold it on, because once it has come off, it will come off again.
