Idle Air Control / IAC Valve for FD?

My Idle Air Control / IAC valve has failed and I've been searching for a few replacements but they're all pretty steep ( Link ), at about $450+.

Searching the forums it looks like the FD can perhaps use a 01-03 Ford Taurus IAC Valve? ( Link here )
Which only costs $50 new according to that old post. Has anyone tried the Taurus IAC Valve, does it actually work, and if so were there any problems?

Would there be a cheaper just as good aftermarket replacement? If not, what's the best option to take for the IAC valve that's not $400+?

Thanks man. I'll check it out and will include that as a Plan B once the Taurus IAC is completely ruled out.

If anyone has tried / knows about the Taurus IAC valve for the FD (or know better alternatives) please let me know :)

Oh. You can use whatever valve you want basically, as long as you can make it fit. You will have to adjust the frequency if it's PWM type.

Just needs to have the right amount of wires.

And flange obviously.

When you say whatever valve, I guess then the Ford Taurus IAC one is usable for the FD then? Never changed one so just wanted to get the right one the first time. Anything above $200 seems steep for a IAC valve.

I imagine you could find a used one for much cheaper, especially with all the JDM long blocks that have been parted out over time.

I've changed them on other cars before, usually less than $50 new, not sure why the FD's is so expensive.

Yeah $200+ for that thing is truly absurd. Probably because they don't make them anymore.
Do you happen to have a link or could you point me in the right direction to find this less than $50 new IAC valve?

It's been a while. I think it was from a late 90's Ford. Possibly Taurus or explorer. It was on rock auto whatever it was. Looked just like an FD, but had an external air inlet pipe instead of matching the fd manifold. This went on a custom manifold, so unless you are willing to modify your intake, you still need something with the correct flange/passageway.

Really, they fail pretty rarely. Typically they just need to be cleaned out and they are fine.

I'd just find a good used one if yours is legitimately broken. I don't see a good reason to buy a new one.
