Identify this!

Hello forum members! Can anyone identify this? Just found it on the floor under the car in middle area of the engine bay. I started up the car to let it warm up. No problems but during warmup, the car started to have jumping AFR levels (going from 13.0 to 15 or so AFR), causing the engine to die. Now, if I rev up the engine, the car repeatedly dies, as my AFRs go above 15 during warmup.

Can this gizmo I found have anything to do with the issue? I am perplexed but that seems to be a state of life for me anyway!

Thanks for the help!

Might be the end of the hood release cable.

Yep, end of the hood release cable for sure. Probably an old one that broke off in the past and finally made its way out. That part is at the end of the cable where it connects to the hood latch.

Thanks guys. Yes, that is it. I wonder how long it has been lodged in the engine bay? :)

Now to the. current issue I have starting the car. There is always something to work on....
