Which IC?
 

I know this has been beaten like a dead horse but ,y question is a little different.

Which IC would be best for a daily driver that might see the dragstrip, autocross and roadcourse maybe once in its life. I commute about 10 miles a day and I like to have a litlle fun on the weekend, but I don't trash the car for hours on end.

I was afraid of a fmic because of gravel damaging the fins in the winter in Colorado, and excess radiator heat in trafic in Texas summers.

Order the M2/ASP medium stock mount intercooler from Jason at the RX-7 Store, fits in the stock location, no battery relocation needed. You will however need to replace your Air intake with an aftermarket one which is the case with any intercooler upgrade except for maybe the one from Peter Farell I think....

If you are just running 10 psi on the street, you shouldn't feel the NEED to upgrade your IC. If you are just street driving at 13-14 psi max, I would get one of the smaller upgrades. You can get a used PFS SMIC for less than $800, which is just a bit smaller than the M2/ASP Medium. It doesn't have any fitment issues with the air pump and doesn't require you to buy a Greddy elbow either. A very good choice for a daily driver.

I would like to run 12 psi sometimes so it would be nice to have an IC, does the PFC SMIC flow as well as the M2?

Is the PFS SMIC Better that the Pettit Coolcharge II?

I'd agree with Rynberg. I have a small Blitz SMIC that works well for my state of tune. It fits perfectly in the stock locaton with the stock airbox and a normal size battery in place. There was a thread recently about the amount of air or was it surface area that a few different SMICs could handle and I was surprised by how much the Blitz actually had.

SMICs are going to be a lot easier to install as well and you will see lower water temps than a FMIC. Air Temps are good too.

I have a friend with a PFS and I must say that it fits very nicely also. The added benefit of the PFS is that you can add an intercooler fan to it which is good if you do a lot of stop and go. Plus it can be found cheap here used.

You need to decide if you are going to keep the stock intake before choosing an intercooler. In addition, the stock intercooler can handle 12 psi. Obviously, it isn't the best, but it should satisfy your minimal needs.

I blew holes (twice) in the piping at 13psi...so I'd say 10psi. It won't cool effectively past that.
