I would like to change my spark plugs from the top please show me site!!!

Hey guys, i'am planning on doing all my realibilty maintenance my self know, for the dealer is really becoming expensive for service, my main question is what are some of the realibility mods i should preriodically do on my rx7, and is there a site that i can go to that shows me how to CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS FROM THE TOP OF THE CAR, INSTEAD OF UNDERNEATH, BECAUSE I DONT HAVE A CAR HOIST. I know of Rob Robineets site but he doesnt show me a step by step guide how to change the spark plugs from the top of the engine bay. Please help!!!!!!!!

it's 200 times easier changing them from the bottom.

Go to the auto parts store.

Four-ton jack, $30. Two jack stands, $15. Changing your plugs from the bottom, priceless. :D

Whatever you do....change *one plug at a time.* Take off one plug wire, replace the plug, then put the same plug wire back on. Do not (do not) cross any of the spark plug wires. One easy to blow your motor is by reversing your leading and trailing wires.

You'll need some anti-seize (silvery stuff) to put on the threads of the new plugs before they go in. The (deep) socket size you'll need is 13/16ths. Use the socket to initially loosen the plug; after that just unscrew it by hand. When putting a new plug in, *do it by hand.* That way it'll be much harder to cross thread your block. Trust me, it's possible to do this...I know :p: . Once the plug is hand-tightened all the way, then use the socket to torque about half a turn more.

It's very easy from the top once you've done it a few times and can do everything by feel. But, I've seen some FDs where it was much more difficult to get your hand down there b/c there was a lot of crap (ignition amp wires, etc) in the way.

If it's your first time, I would go out of my way to find a proper lift. Combined with a drop light, it does make the whole process much easier.

Good luck man--

From the top is how I have always done my plug replacements. I think it is easier after you consider the trouble of hauling the jack and jack stands out and getting things set up. Just make sure you have an extension for your socket, only an inch or 2 but it is a tremendous help.I think it is the front plugs I use the extension on. It really isn't that difficult, of course that is compared to doing just about anything else on the car.

Buy some jackstands...and do it from the bottom...really it's way way easier..I think anyways... pretty hard to cross wires..I think...My magnacors are not long enough to make a leading/trailing switch..

Change from the top is only hard the first time ...
Then it get easier with practice. Mine used to flood bad, I think I can Change all four in less than 5 minutes from the top now ...
