I thought the FD did .99g's in the slalom?
I could swear I remember seeing that in an old car & driver or somethin.....
Now I read here in a few threads it is only doing .91????? if that is true, how much would adding a tower bar change that? |
that is the rating of the average g pulled around a full circle, the slalom is measured in speed, not g force
a tower bar won't significantly increase the traction capability of the car, but it won't hurt at all. suspension, larger rubber, lightweight, etc are the key to increasing the cornering ability of the car |
It actually pulled over a 1.00g in other tests from different magazines.

Ummmmmmmmmm skid pad maybe, would have to be one helluva slolom ! ! ! !
|
Doesnt a lot of this depend on the tires and alignment?
I doubt a used one just off the front lawn is going to pull a .99 or a 1.0, not trying to be the fly in the ointment here but still... :P |
Depends on the model.
R1's have different suspension and are lighter, then they made plenty of upgrades in Japan (280hp, Spirit R model, etc) that had more and more better "stuff". Regardless, this thing handles! |
It was a skidpad reading. That generates a "constant" side force, whereas a sloolom also tests turnin stability as you are violently weeving from side to side.

I really don't think a strut brace helps much at all. I've driven my R1 with and without and really can't tell the difference.
